Galeri 77, known for its collaboration with artists working across a wide geographical and aesthetic range, will participate in CI Bloom 2025 with a meticulously curated selection of works by 26 artists from its portfolio. The fair will take place between April 16–20, 2025 at the Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center, Rumeli Hall. The diverse selection, comprising sculpture, photography, oil, acrylic, and works on paper, offers a rich visual experience that spans from geometric, minimalist, and gestural approaches in abstract art to humorous, fantastical, realistic, and surreal expressions in figurative practices. Blending traditional and eclectic styles, the presentation is rooted in artistic freedom and follows the traces of boundless creativity. This year, Galeri 77 once again aims to engage viewers with a striking visual diversity.
Organized by Contemporary Istanbul, the fourth edition of CI Bloom brings together 25 galleries and 4 art initiatives. Aiming to support the development of contemporary art in Turkey, CI Bloom goes beyond being a mere art fair to offer a dynamic platform for interaction among artists, galleries, and collectors. Highlighting emerging and alternative artistic practices, the fair also contributes to the sustainable growth of the art market by hosting international art professionals in Istanbul.
At CI Bloom 2025, Galeri 77 presents a broad range of works from abstract and minimalist pieces to sculptures, photographs, and figurative compositions. This unique selection, featuring artists from various generations and disciplines, reflects the gallery’s commitment to artistic diversity and its vision to support contemporary production.
Representing a contemporary art approach that maintains ties with modernist traditions, embraces conceptual depth, explores experimental relationships with material, and values expressive plurality, Galeri 77 shapes its artistic vision through this multifaceted lens. Thus, the gallery’s portfolio serves as a bridge between Modernism and Postmodernism — both referencing art history and emphasizing contemporary sensibilities.
New Artists Debuting at CI Bloom
For its fourth edition at CI Bloom, Galeri 77 is proud to introduce five new artists to its portfolio. These artists, who bring new perspectives to the gallery’s curatorial line, stand out with their distinct techniques and conceptual approaches: Taron Marukyan, Nevres Akın, Sam Grigorian, Mutlu Aksu, and İlker Kayalı. Their works open new pathways ranging from gestural minimalism to abstract reflections of space-time and humorous realism.
Taron Marukyan reinterprets abstract minimalism in his large-scale oil on canvas compositions, focusing on the interaction of color, line, and texture. By merging structured forms with improvisation, the artist seeks visual balance and rhythm.
Sam Grigorian explores themes of cultural memory and transformation through his paper-based collages. His works, created using layered surfaces and scraping techniques, reference both Eastern and Western artistic traditions.
Nevres Akın transforms scientific references into visual language, producing abstract reflections on time, space, and vibrational structures. Compositions based on line, repetition, and vibration offer a dynamic yet meditative impression.
Mutlu Aksu centers his work around figurative expression. Drawing from daily life and personal memory, he embeds sociopolitical references into his compositions. Static figures, fleeting expressions, and ironic details define his unique narrative style.
İlker Kayalı brings together fictional and real-life scenes inspired by personal experiences in his figurative compositions. Using a bold color palette, multi-layered surfaces, and recurring symbols, he explores emotional states in a multilayered narrative.
With this specially curated presentation for CI Bloom, Galeri 77 offers viewers the opportunity to experience both familiar and novel artistic approaches. Through this year’s participation, the gallery aims to highlight the expressive richness of contemporary art and reinforce its long-term collaborations with artists.
