Established on the foundations of specially curated thematic exhibitions within the scope of Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair in 2010, Galeri 77 solidified its identity as an institutional art gallery in 2012 with the completion of its art space in Karaköy. Since its inception, the gallery has aimed to bring an innovative perspective to contemporary art while serving as a dynamic platform that bridges artists and art enthusiasts.
Beyond providing a creative space for artists, Galeri 77 is committed to making art accessible to wider audiences and contributing to the art world with lasting impact. With a meticulous approach to collection-building, the gallery supports its artists by producing comprehensive catalogues and books, further enriching academic research.
With a vision of integrating into both regional and international art scenes, Galeri 77 fosters interdisciplinary interactions and provides space for creative productions. As one of Istanbul’s leading galleries, it reflects a refined artistic approach while also unveiling the formal and intellectual richness of contemporary art. Over the years, it has continued its mission to engage with a broader audience by participating in local and international art fairs, organizing solo and group exhibitions, and supporting art publishing.
Committed to following contemporary artistic trends, strengthening cultural dialogue, and providing a sustainable space for artists, Galeri 77 remains an active participant in interdisciplinary exchange.
The completion of its new gallery space in 2025 marks a significant milestone in the artistic and institutional development of Galeri 77. Located on Karaköy Şarap İskelesi Street, the transformation of a 200-year-old historical warehouse into an art gallery, following an extensive and meticulous restoration process, has allowed the gallery to expand its exhibition programs and host collection displays, offering art enthusiasts a more comprehensive experience. This spatial expansion represents not only physical growth but also a strategic step that reinforces the gallery’s artistic vision and institutional identity.
