Biography
Born in 1957 in Yerevan, Armenia, Sam Grigorian discovered his passion for art at an early age, with a particular interest in the avant-garde movement, especially Dada. His artistic journey expanded in the 1980s when he began experimenting with large-scale abstract expressionist compositions. Over time, his works evolved into intricate visual landscapes, resembling maps or topographical studies.

Grigorian’s medium of choice is paper, which he meticulously layers, scrapes, and reconstructs, revealing hidden depths and textures. Through this technique, he explores themes of transformation, history, and cultural memory, blending elements from his Armenian heritage with contemporary influences. His practice serves as a bridge between past and present, as well as between Eastern and Western artistic traditions.

Currently based in Berlin, Germany, Grigorian’s works are part of prestigious private and institutional collections across Europe, Australia, and the United States.
