Biography
Mutlu Aksu was born in 1990 in Giresun. He completed his primary and secondary education in Istanbul. In 2011, he began studying at Uludağ University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting, and graduated in 2015. That same year, he completed his master's degree at Marmara University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting, with a thesis titled "The Process of Change in Turkish Art After 1970 and the Relationship Between Material and Concept." He continues his work in his studio in Istanbul.
In his works, the artist frequently constructs narratives based on observations of ordinary moments in daily life, focusing on socio-cultural and political structures, power struggles, symbols of authority, and how individuals experience these issues. Referencing human relationships and emotional states, his work reflects an effort to reinterpret and reconstruct these experiences through artistic expression. While attitude plays a decisive role in his approach, Aksu seeks to express the colorful, ever-changing yet constant nature of everyday life. This expressive approach often results in compositions where humor takes a dominant role, centering on human experiences. Rather than focusing on the before and after of a story, his works often present a static image of a captured moment, defining the visual language of his art.
