According to David Martirosyan, who stated that he had difficulty in drawing through his imagination since childhood and that it was easier for him to paint based on the life around him and what he saw, the most important element in painting is composition. The artist once discovered copyrighted photography while trying to find different means of composition and was heavily influenced by names such as Karl Blossfeldt, Eugene Smith and Vivian Maier. Stating that he thinks like a photographer while painting, the works of the artist semble scenes taken from life. For David Martirosyan, pictorially, Enguerrand Quarton's "Pieta" is the ideal example of harmony and symmetry in composition.
