“All human beings living today carry the memory of thousands of years of human history. Within this memory we preserve the fears, knowledge, beliefs, traditions, customs, cultures, loyalties, and habits of the past. And these constitute one side of the conflict within us. The other side of the conflict are the geography we inhabit, the technology, education, personal rights, freedom, the dangers of our era, our concerns, anxieties, and fears. The more principles, ideologies and ideas that exist within each person, the more conflicts they hold inside. What are the factors that trigger these conflicts? How do we deal with these conflicts? What solutions do we come up with? Can we come up with any? What is its mental and physical toll on us?

I prioritize the use of forms and colors in the overall composition. I usually prefer to have a single figure as a focal point. By making this figure face the viewer, I aim to create a connection between the viewer and the artwork. I believe that deforming the figure and the space is a good way of showing what human beings are like in their inner worlds and how they reflect these differently to the outside. My manifesto is to express these emotions and that atmosphere through colors and to provide integrity—and for the painting as a whole, my aim is to create an atmosphere that is both compatible and incompatible through color and deformed forms.” - Hakan Gürbüzer
